Parata departs Pulse

The coaching ranks across the ANZ Premiership will receive a shakeup in 2022 after Central Pulse today confirmed Gail Parata would depart at seasons end.

The announcement is off the back of Magic’s announcement that Amigene Metcalfe would also not return to Waikato Bay of Plenty next season.

In a statement released this afternoon by Central Pulse, officials said Parata and the club had come to a mutual agreement to part ways.

Director of High-Performance Waimarama Taumaunu thanked Parata for her time.

“We understand Gail’s desire to pursue other opportunities and to build a new programme from scratch,’’ Taumaunu said.

It is not yet clear where Parata will end up but she said she wanted to take a programme and build it from the ground up.

Pulse CEO Fran Scholey was grateful to Parata for the time and dedication given to the team during 2021.

“We wish Gail all the best in her next opportunity within netball, and are now currently working through the coaching team for 2022,” she said.

Pulse is set to miss finals despite taking out back to back titles in 2019 and 2020 – ending the club’s run of four grand finals in a row.
